Electrocoating

Spang Power Electronics is a manufacturer of custom power equipment installed for electrocoating. Spang’s expertise in power control and conversion has helped us become a global leader for the supply of deposition rectifiers.

Deposition Rectifiers

Electrocoating is an organic coating method that uses electrical current to deposit paint onto a metal part or assembly. Parts are dipped into a paint bath or tank where direct current (DC) is applied between the parts and electrode (anode and cathode DC arrangement). Paint, driven by the electric field, is attracted to the metal part and is deposited on it. The DC voltage and ripple voltage from the deposition rectifiers are closely controlled and filtered to ensure a high quality coated surface.

Spang Power Electronics provides Power Systems configured as deposition rectifiers in six (6) pulse, twelve (12) pulse, and DC chopper configurations with precise voltage control and ripple filtering for electrocoating applications ranging from small parts in indexing systems to large frames and car and truck bodies in continuous coating lines.
