 Applications Engineer

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in the design and/or quotation of power electronics systems products. The Applications Engineer will define industry focused technical solutions to customers through sales and marketing while serving as the liaison with engineering. We are seeking someone who possesses good communication, analytical, and technical (PC) skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Understanding / communicating Spang product technology.
  • Determining customer expectations for technology, price, delivery and performance.
  • Using industry process knowledge and product application expertise to recommend solutions to customers - thereby meeting their power conversion and control requirements.
  • Generating specifications for major system and product quotations and completing quotes.
  • Helping to identify new product or market opportunities for the application of Spang technology and application expertise.
  • Providing technical support to customers, sales, and marketing.
  • Provide input to Development Engineering for new Product technologies
  • Writing technical papers in support of the sales and marketing plan.
  • Using and developing application / pricing tools to improve productivity and support corporate profitability goals.
BS in Electrical Engineering (or other engineering discipline with concentration in electronics) is required. MBA is a plus. The ability to travel domestically and internationally (20-25%) is necessary.

Testing Engineer

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 8 years of experience in testing control circuits and control systems for mid to high voltage electrical equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support Systems testing during the Manufacturing process to include hardware and software design verification according to the test plan.
  • Test circuit boards, control circuits and control systems, including hardware and software.
  • Develop test procedures and carry out testing of boards, product subassemblies, and systems.
  • Experience with microprocessor-based circuit design, including analog, digital and power conversion experience.
  • Experience with programmable logic devices.
  • Knowledge of basic communications interfaces and protocols. Ethernet IP, Profibus and DeviceNet preferred.
  • The ability to occasionally travel domestically and internationally required.
BS in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering Technology is required. Course study in power electronics is helpful. Relocation assistance available.

Electrical / Mechanical Designer

The Electrical/Mechanical Designer will support Systems, Product, and Development Engineering by generating documentation for manufacturing and the customer. The position involves creation of electrical and mechanical drawing packages.

Position requires minimum of three years of experience designing electrical systems. Must possess a thorough understanding of schematic drawings of industrial power controls and wiring, including PLCs. Must have experience with sheet metal fabrications involving structural design for large cabinetry/heavy industrial equipment.

Bachelors or Associates degree in technical discipline preferred. Must exhibit proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.

China / Asia-Pacific Sales Engineer

Driven by business growth and expanding opportunities in the China/Asia-Pacific marketplace, Spang Power Electronics (SPE) is seeking to fill the position of Asia-Pacific Sales Engineer. Spang Power Electronics designs and manufactures power control and conversion equipment for a wide range of world class industrial Customers. Spang Power Electronics has operating facilities in the United States and Xiamen, China.

The successful candidate will operate out of a major region in China (Beijing, Chengdu, or Guangzhou), and must be available for extensive travel throughout Asian-Pacific countries. Persons holding a passport from outside of mainland China would be preferable due to the requirement for significant international travel.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to identify customers and opportunities for SPE products in the Pacific Rim
  • Manage customer relations
  • Define and implement sales strategies for assigned accounts and territories
  • Develop application expertise on our products
  • Determine customer needs, quotation generation, submittal, follow-up and disposition
  • Negotiation of purchase orders/change orders
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Technology is required. This individual must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the manufacturing and automation industry, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales with at least two years in major account solution selling, preferably in the power electronics or systems automation field. Must be fluent in verbal and written technical English communications, along with verbal/written language skills in Mandarin Chinese. Additional Asian language skills a plus.

Relocation package is available. English and Mandarin Chinese language skills must be outstanding for non-native Chinese applicants.
